Rotor Dynamics
When designing turbo machines, the mechanical characteristics of rotating elements become extremely important, since imbalance, increased load on the bearings and resonance phenomena can damage the equipment much earlier than its design life is over. FEA offers a variety of tools and techniques for solving rotor dynamics problems, including the ability to analyze critical frequencies and rotor speeds, build a Campbell diagram, simulate rolling and sliding bearings, calculate rotor amplitudes for unbalance, and simulate the rotor’s acceleration and stop.
